Goodness we are bad at keeping this up to date.

Quick sketch of our missed out bits.

Went to Sophie's for xmas got tickets to Aus and a bow so that turned out reety good. have got some combat arrows now so am practicing lob shots for combat. nice.

Will go to aus for the big 14th c camp over there and see Sophie's brother as well, might try and catch up with my family while we are over there too. Look out cuzzies.

Over the xmas holidays we found the only blacksmithing course in NZ, its run through the Buller Community Trust in Westport in the South Island and I was very keen to sign up for that.

Got all the details, turns out its run through WINZ. Had to have a winz number to do the course. No problem, went to winz got the number. the course phoned back a few days later, "that not the right number". No worries i'll go down and talk to them see what happened.

Turns out I had to go to a 2 hour seminar to get the WINZ number (this is 2 weeks bfore the cut off date). No worries, got the seminar done, got all my paperwork filled out, got my cv together. Had to have a second appointment with WINZ, turns out to be another 2 hour seminar plus more paperwork plus a personal interview with a case manager.

Turns out im not allowed to do the course becasue im too over qualifyed. I have a baker and a diving NZQA cert and to do the course I can have neither. So...... (even had the farwell party) akward.

Im moving back to Sophie's farm to get some serios work done with no distractions (apart from the odd chicken).

Ive got a six month waiting list now, mostly breastplates.

Went to Taupo Joust on the weekend, it went really well, I took my armoury along and got even more orders!

Met some cool firedancers and had the crowd cheering for me on the banquet night, (then managed to loose his clothes at 3am and come stumbling into the tent saying "ive only had 2 beers, I couldn't find my hose" not to mention the whisky shots - thanks Bing - the bottle of mead, the bits of other things. geez. Soph)

Just reovering from the event now, will move all my workshop to Taumarunui including the plasma cutter! So if you want to get hold of me, better to email as there is no reception here for mobiles.

thats all for now folks.

Just getting ready for a few displays this weekend, making lots of armour and getting all our gear ready,

getting the mud off my armour from last time
(and fixing mine)

Doing a German backplate and a few other back and front plates as well,

Soph and I will be taking the workshop up north for Christmas, we'll be popping up to Tauranga nd Gisborne to visit friends and family as well as doing a fire display for a local Primary school and Sophie's producing their school play this ear, (sooo much hastle for so little raise lol - Soph)

Been approached to make a few full suits of armour now, so order forms are again backing up, Still send me your orders, gives me something to do.

Almost bought a power hammer yesterday but decided that the price was too high, not quite worth it, but next time, Sophie has a new dressmakers dummy though (YAY - Soph)

thats all for now, a few new pages on the site so check them out.

Thanks

Justin and Sophie

Naama

wow naama

what can we say

Sophie got terrible food poisoning and was delirious the entire weekend

but I had a brilliant time, I did some heavy combat with TMS and joined the naama field a few times as well.

The fort battle went superbly with no one hurt but for the illegal use of grappling hooks, grrr.

The fort walls peeled back and we were left undefended. bugger

Had our stall going and sold a bit of jewelry and a few fire staffs so thats good, now we can make more!

I bought the rights to set the for on fire on the last night with all proceeds going to charity for the autistic,

Myself and around 15 other fire staffers set light to the big thing and did a small display. It looked really good!

We donated a helm and some pauldrens to the charity auction and that went off wothout a hitch and also (just for charity) sold myself to a charming blonde for the night.

Overall one of the best naamas ive been to, thanks to the Falcons for getting it all going and making it a brilliant time

Sunday 26/8/07 (bloody hell - Soph)

oh no reality hits.

we got Damien to take All of our stuff back, thank goodness, Changed our ride to get to Parmy then get Wayde to take us to Levin.

Got to Parmy alright. Then no Wayde. Decided to hitchhike with Sophie.

40mins later got a ride to Shannon.

Just before we got there, we noticed a car wrapped around a pole....then we saw the smoke

As first on the scene we saw petrol pouring from the car. We got the engine off and carried the two free passengers from the car as fast as we could. Worrying about the car exploding behind us.

Fire brigade was on their way (3 engines, 3 police,2 ambulances and 1 helicopter attended and did all the right things)

they had use the jaws of life to get the driver out (crushed under the steering wheel) and then pull the car off the pole (the pole was in the middle of the car at this point) to free the back passenger.

They were speeding...... slow down guys i don't want to see this happen to a friend (EVER!! - soph)

got out of there after about an hour. Thankfully got a ride from Shannon to J'ville and the lovely Rusty picked us up and took us home.

What an adventure.

Home yay, now im going to have a bath.

Bye

ps

instead of being at this event I should have been working on a breastplate, but I will be finishing it this week hopefully.

Now im going to sleep. Long day

Saturday 25/8/07

Today's the big day, for a young new team, this Sophie's Bobby's and Jordan's first clontaff. Mine and Damien's second, and Moony, Sarsha's and Nicks third.

Great fighting, alot of fun. We got second in the round robin of 5 teams from all over NZ.

In the playoffs had to fight the Argent Lords, and beat them and then we faced the Ravens, it came down to 2 for 2

finish. The final match they managed to beat us by one fighter. It was very close. Good fighting guys! lots of fun.

Lots of drinking that night. yaay.

Plus organized a ride back to Foxton with Dee.

Justins Blog: 24/8/07

Falcons training was fantastic. I didn't get hurt at all, but Sophie on the other hand is a sore little girl

(my legs are black! - Soph)

She didn't wear her legs and now has bruised thighs.

Friday: Clontaff!!

the finance on the new Terrano came through but we cant pick up the keys till next week. Dam we really needed the car for clontaff.

So we took my dads old Rover (1990). Me,Soph, Sarsha and Moony plus all our sleeping gear. We were smart, we dumped all our fighting kit with our good team mate/ friend/ and sometimes worker.

So we started off at 4pm in high spirits after repairing two spears for the team.

Come 5pm we hit traffic. come 6 we hit the turnoff for Fielding,

Come 7pm we miss the turnoff for Aratiki and end up in Mangaweka. (oops sorry - Soph)

Come 7 after driving all the way back we miss the turn off for table top rd and find Apiti. (Just as well in the end)

Come 8 we get 2k down table top and we loose 4th gear....and then 3rd......2nds gone....smoke billows out....and there's 1st gone too. Dam

At this point we thought the car had just overheated, so we had bread and cheese while we waited for it to cool down.

after about 30mins we started it up again, we started taking off, then we started rolling backwards. We decided to to go back to the only life in Aratiki, the Pub.

This pub is cool, everyone should go there for a beer!

So we sent and Moony off with the owner of the barr while me and Soph chatted with the locals. An hour later they come back with a sleepy they had to drag out of bed for us.

So that's cool, we got there at about 1am.

Finished buffing the Pauldrens im currently working on, still got minor scratches in them but they will do me. Check out past pieces for the pic.

Cheers to Rusty for letting me use his buffing wheel.

Finally got the insurance company number for the car. (yay ! – soph)

So looking forward to seeing what happens with that.

Justin's Blog 10/8/07

Found out the people who hit us in the car live in Upper Hutt, so maybe we can get insurance, car still at panel beaters. See what happens....

Went to WMA today for the first time, very different style from what I am used to fighting with. A very technical approach, but fun. I'll let you know how this goes in the future.

(Its weird being stabbed in the face - Soph)

I'm off back into the workshop to finish my Pauldrens and Sophie's arms.

Getting ready for Clontaff.

Justin Blog 8/8/07

Hi everybody, Justin  here. I've had a bit of  a bad day, driving home from the workshop Sophie and I managed to met and other car head on.

Their fault, didn't look, smashed into us. Sophie's car is munched. She's distraught. Poor Sophie.

Got a black eye now, but some good news, the $30 SINGER sowing machine we brought 2 days earlier survived and works really well! Yay for second hand stores.
